New: Chat with Tyson the Bison!

We have upgraded our chat feature on our website to be more helpful to members or prospective members. Tyson can help get you the answers to frequently asked questions about membership, checking accounts, and more! Remember, Tyson is smart, but he is not a person. If you need further assistance, he will be able to help you contact a member of our staff.

You may start seeing our new brand more frequently. We will be spending the rest of this year making sure you see our new brand whenever you interact with Interior Federal. So far, we have received excellent feedback from members and are thrilled to hear you love it as much as we do.

A question we would like to address is: Will we be receiving new debit and credit cards? The answer is eventually. We will be redesigning the cards and anyone that opens a new checking account with a debit card or applies for a credit card and is approved will receive a newly designed card (once ready). If you have one of those cards currently, you will receive the new card design when your card expires and is re-issued.

The Hidden Pitfalls of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)

Gotta have it but don’t have the cash right now? You’re not alone. It’s the reason you’ll find a buy now, pay later button when checking out at many online retailers. Usually, the option will link you to a BNPL app, such as Afterpay, Affirm, or Quadpay. Similarly, a brick-and-mortar store may offer you this option at checkout as well. Here, too, you’ll pay through an affiliated app.

Budget Check Up: Tax Time is the Right Time

Our wealth advisor recommends that our members review their budgets each year as a very important step in financial wellness. Here's an article that outlines six-steps to effectively achieve an annual budget review.

Every year, about 140 million households file their federal tax returns. For many, the process involves digging through shoe boxes or manila folders full of receipts; gathering mortgage, retirement, and investment account statements; and relying on computer software to take advantage of every tax break the code permits.

It seems a shame not to make the most of all that effort.

Tax preparation may be the only time of year many households gather all their financial information in one place. That makes it a perfect time to take a critical look at how much money is coming in and where it’s all going. In other words, this is a great time to give the household budget a checkup.
